What Is an Alohana Moment?

I want to share what this is—and what it isn’t.

An Alohana Moment is a pause. A moment of presence.

Not a strategy.
Not advice.
Not something to fix or optimize.

It’s the kind of moment where life slows just enough for you to notice what’s really happening—inside you and around you.

For me, that noticing became clearer during a time of change. After many years in a fast-paced city, I moved to a small town. Life felt different. Quieter. I wasn’t trying to change anything. I was simply paying attention.

That attention changed how I think about money.

After more than two decades of studying and working in finance, I noticed that most conversations about money focus on numbers, plans, and results. Those things matter—but they often miss something important.

These conversations don’t usually start with how life feels.

Alohana Moment starts there.

These reflections are not here to tell you what to do with your money. There are many places where advice is given—and at Alohana Financial, that guidance is an essential part of the work we do together.

But this space is different.

Here, my writing is about creating pause and presence—so that when advice is given, it lands with clarity, intention, and meaning.

This is a place to notice:

  • How you live
  • How you choose
  • How you relate
  • How you feel at the end of the day

Money matters—but it’s never the whole story.

An Alohana Moment doesn’t rush to answers. It creates space.

Space to pause. To be present. To reconnect with what matters most—right now, in this season of your life.

And if these words stay with you—if they follow you quietly into your day rather than offering a clear solution—then you’ve just experienced an Alohana Moment.Until the next moment,
In harmony,
Ohan
